Thanks to our company chronicle and our modern archives, we always have an eye on Stiegelmeyer’s long history as a family business. On 22 July 1902, for example, the young mattress factory Joh. Stiegelmeyer sent out a business letter – our first preserved letter written on the company’s own stationary. The most interesting part is the detailed letter head with a copperplate print of the building at its original location. When looking at the impressive compound it is hard to believe that company founder Johann Stiegelmeyer had only started with the construction plans one year prior. While the main building was still under construction he already added a horse stall and a shed. With its telephone connection and telegram address the mattress factory was at the height of its time. Young people are researching to promote the recovery and quality of life in hospitals and nursing homes: This is what our new cooperation with the Institute of System Dynamics and Mechatronics (ISyM) at the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld is all about. Stiegelmeyer is an athletic company – especially success in dragon boat races have tradition. Now, the Stiegelmeyer team from our Polish location in Stolno has won the Tumski Cup. Our colleagues travelled to Wrocław to compete with other boats from companies and non-profit organisations on the Odra river. The Tumski Cup is an event for the whole family with music and a picnic along the river. The local newspapers reported extensively on the race. We congratulate our successful!
